DescriptionDivision proves that stellar songwriting and compelling lyrical content never go out of style. Hailing from the morass of frustration that is our nation's capital, this undeniably contemporary, and unapologetically metal, band has a long history of leveling audiences with its massive sonic assault. It takes a lot to stack up to the giants and win over fickle audiences, but Division does just that on a regular basis. Testament, Nevermore, Kamelot, Dio, King Diamond, Bruce Dickinson, Symphony X, and Iced Earth are just a few of the powerhouses they have graced the stage with, sending home rabid audiences of crazed music fans with the words of Division songs on their lips. Showcasing dueling leads and sinewy harmonies, pounding rhythms and searing vocals, explosive stage shows and exacting performances, they present the complete package. For over fifteen years, Division has stood, while the trends have come and gone. Division's latest offering, their highly anticipated fourth release, Control Issues, delivers a deep assortment of musical textures and emotions through songs that have been forged and tested in the unforgiving world of live concerts. Songs such as the anthemic Hunt, the haunting darkness of Gemini, and the scorching thrash of The Collector, only hint at the twisting voyage that awaits the listener on a disc that is destined to become the best yet from this veteran band. Personnel: Mike Blevins – Guitar – One of the founding members of Division, Mike's been along for the whole ride. One of Division's primary songwriters, he tries to keep the balance of aggression and melody in the music, and as the band's "elder statesman", he tries not to complain about the other members being on his lawn. Ron Cummings-Kralik – Bass – Ron joined Division in March of 2004 after 3 years of playing in a Baltimore Progressive Rock Band. He tries to combine thrash aggressiveness with progressive melodies in his playing. He also plays bass for death metal band, Hatred, and the Randy Ellefson Band. Dave Evans – Guitar – Dave got his start with various local bands, most notably Above The Fray, and joined Division in November of 2005. His influences run the gamet from Megadeth to King's X, and tries for the unexpected, often while sitting on Mike's lawn. James Goetz – Drums – James has been playing drums since 1992, getting his start in various hardcore and punk rock bands until joining Division in Fall of 2003. His drumming influences include the likes of older releases from Megadeth, Sepultura, Obituary, Slayer, and Nevermore. Nick Kelly – Vocals – Nick brings over twenty years of experience to the stage. His musical career has taken him all over the United States, and he enjoys songwriting, as well as performing. Nick's influences range across many genres of music; the product of a DJ father during his youth. He loves to craft a story and then hear fans explain what those words mean to them. Band History: Formed in 1995, Division has been pounding out metal non-stop ever since. Despite numerous member changes, the band's core identity manages to come through in their recordings and ferocious live shows - a love of aggression AND melody. Their non-stop dedication to their particular brand of American Metal has seen them play hundreds of shows across the eastern half of the U.S., and gained them an international fan base through their no-nonsense recordings. Never far from their roots, Division still manages to reach forward, while never losing sight of their goal: to make the music their fans want to hear, and deliver it from the stage.
